Got a double boneless butt roast from Costco and decided to do them both at one cooking. We field stripped one and put the other one in the reefer after it had cooled down. We pulled the 2nd one after two days in the reefer. It just literally fell apart. In the future, unless I need it right away I will put it in the reefer and do it at 35F instead of 110 or 120 or +. One roast normally lasts us about a week making sandwiches, etc.. UPEgger

I have read a few other posts in here about the butts from Costco falling apart when removing from packaging.

Some have really good luck with Costco meats in here. I, on the other hand, absolutely HATE Costco meats. It is always hit or miss for me and mostly miss so I don't waste my money taking chances buying any meat from Costco. I never bought their pork shoulders because I prefer bone-in.

I have had good luck with ALL of Costco's fresh meat. Like you, I prefer the bone in shoulder, but it is tough to find in the Hell Centro area. In my area of the UP there is not a Costco, but custom butcher shops still exist and will cut anything your heart desires. Should be back there by the end of the month. God's Mosquito Country. UPEgger
