Purchased a jicama yesterday and I am looking for something different from the traditional lime cilantro and cayenne marinade.

Joan,
Peel and cut it into thin slices and sprinkle with cayenne or hot chili powder. It's great.

Have you ever charred the strips on the egg?Large, small and mini now Egging in Rowlett Tx

Joan, I've cut it into matchstick size for a salad. With a citrus vinaigarette. Add any veggies, nuts or fruits. Raisins, or craisins also. Cilantro or mint are good also.
Hope that gives you some ideas.Molly

No,
I have never cooked it. I have had it cooked and whipped into mashed potatoes.

This is a GREAT recipe, although I dice it up a little finer than described.
Apple Jicama Coleslaw
1/2 small green cabbage, sliced into 1/4-inch strips
1/2 jicama, skinned and sliced into 1/4-inch strips on a vegetable slicer
1 large Fuji apple, sliced into 1/4-inch strips on a vegetable slicer
For the dressing:
1/4 cup pineapple juice
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 tsp sugar
hot sauce to taste (sriracha is good)
salt to taste
1/3 cup crushed corn nuts
