Removing XL Dome

Help. I am picking up my second egg on Saturday. It is a used 2010 BGE XL and table. I need to lift it out of the table, so I was looking at removing the dome to lighten the load. What is the best way to remove the XL dome lid? Do I need to remove the springs?

Haven't done it for a while but pretty sure you can simply open the dome, remove the spring (not difficult after opening the dome), loosen the bolt on the top band, then lift the dome off leaving the bands for the dome and base in place on the base.
You will need help taking the base out of the table but two can do it after removing the fire ring and fire box.
Take a photo of the way the bands/spring are attached before you remove it just in case you need it later when assembling. -
Last time I did it, I left the band on the base and just removed the top. I put tie wraps on the band (near the springs) and loosened the top.

It is really easy. Just loosen all of your bolts and remove the upper band. Take your dome off and that's it. I think that I have done this 12 times! You should be fine. Once your ready to reassemble you will need to make sure that your that your dome is really lined up with your bottom. This is very important before your tighten everything back into place.
