My daughter enlisted in the AF and we are having a going away party for her on May 7th. We are going to have about 30-35 guests. I would like to do most of my cooking in the days leading up to the party.

Can anyone recommend a few menu items I should consider that can be cooked a few days earlier?

Pulled pork can be cooked earlier and is easily reheated. Once you cook it, pull it and then seal up in zip lock bags with some real Coke mixed in. Reheat when ready to serve...deeelicious..

I will second the pulled pork idea and say you can pretty much do the same thing with a beef chuck roast and have bbq beef as well. That would give you two meat options, both which could be done 2-4 days in advance that rewarm very easily. If you end up doing one or both of these meats, then the day before you can make a large batch of cole slaw, and then make a batch of homemade bbq beans then your menu is complete except for desert of course. ;)

I cooked 6 butts for my daughters wedding reception a couple days ahead of time. I reheated the ziplock bags of pork in simmering water and served it in disposable chafing dishes. Worked out great. -RP

Yep, pulled pork for a crowd of that size and do ahead!

The day of you can put some of the ABT dip (which you've made ahead) on the egg and heat it through for an easy appetizer. Or you can heat it in the oven inside.

    Have fun!

    Randy,
Didn't you do yours "Mexican style"? I liked that idea! You could do nachos heated on the egg with all kinds of stuff to start. :)

Yeah, I served it with shredded cabbage and cheese, tortillas, salsa, refried beans, and onions. -RP
