I've got two related questions. I have a large BGE.
I think I put my egg in the nest the wrong way. Should the extra solid bar be at the back? What's the best way to de-nest? Any tricks or tools to do the job right?
I'm thinking about taking my Egg to the beach for vacation this summer. What's the best way to travel with it safely? I can't fit it in the yukon or my car in the nest, and I'm not sure I'd want to put in on the hitch hauler. What do you guys like to do? Do you take it off the nest?
Thanks a lot!

I traveled with my large for the first time 2 weekends ago when I went camping. It lifts right out of the nest, so there are no problems there. I cleaned out my egg before I put it in my truck and I took out the 3 pieces that are in the inside. I loaded it in the back of my durango and tied it the best that I could. It really wasn't bad at all with the innards out of it. I had my wife lift it with me and I was good to go. I will be bringing it to Salado on the 26th.

I would strongly suggest you buy yourself a back saving Potlifter! It makes moving your large egg by 2 people a snap. Here's one source. BTW I can even handle my small and my medium by myself and I'm not a big guy!

YES! Potlifter is a great way to add a set of handles to an egg
well worth the money. -
We travel with our small egg. Admittedly it's not the size of your large. We clean it out and pack the internal parts with heavy bubble wrap and put them back inside the egg. The nest travels in the truck bed. At our destination, we reassembly the egg and enjoy the food. I think the egg is a good traveler.

One mistake I made was lifting the lid while it's sitting in the nest without any of the parts inside. It will flip right out of the nest if you aren't careful. Just a heads up......
Adam (Ripnem) and I usually take the lid off by losening the bottom ring (the nut that holds it on). You can then move it around by yourself.
I've broke a small and seen a couple larges broke so it makes me even more cautious now more than ever!
Heading to Lake of the Woods on the border of MN & Canada this weekend to do some ice fishing. Both of mine are coming with me. Would rather say I was going to the beach though :P
