need temp advice on beef short ribs

I'm going to try out the beef short rib recipe in the BGE cookbook. It calls for smoking the ribs for about 1.5 hours and then cooking them in beer and chicken stock for another 2.5 hour. It lists the temp for the latter stage at 375 but doesn't list a temp for the initial smoking on the BGE. Any help would be great!
thanks,
John

I have not used that recipe but when I do them on the grill I use about 275.

Hi John. Cpt'n Cook's suggestion of 275 sounds good. I think the goal is to get a nice crust/bark on the exterior, and some smoke flavor, then braise until tender. Enjoy!

I just looked at Max's it does look great.
For future reference.

OK -- did the recipe minus the vinegar reduction. Tasted like pot roast. I like pot roast OK, but I can do that in an oven. Next time I'll cook these open, low and slow.
