Unless I'm missing it, I don't see salt blocks on that site.

Oops.

The stone is shown on my small.
Now I just have to find time to test it.

Don't see any there either. I want to try to find one local if I can.

The web site does a great job of hiding the product.

Thanks. Let me know how it works. Does it give a different taste?
-
Won't have a chance to try it for several days.

That looks like a beast! I like the salt block idea but we are not big fish fans.
Love your handle btw! -
If you get to Tarpon Springs, there is a spice shop near the water that carried them last fall when Gloria and I were over there for that luncheon in Ybor.
-
Not so much a different taste, but a more moist piece of meat or fish.
-
More moist piece of meat. I have done pork steaks, lamb chops and steak and the moisture is retained rather than dropping to the coals.

There are 2 stores that sell spices there, the one on the north side is the one you want the south side has lots of spices and hot sauces.

I asked the same question last series of salt stone posts, found a seven page story about the origin, use, and " benefits" of the salt stone.
If you google Himalayan Pink Salt you will see several references to the Himalayan Pink Salt and the links I found. Many have different perspectives on what it does or doesn't do based on use. Cooking isn't the only application for these. Plates, lamps, decoration, deserts, presentation of food, salt, etc etc, The purported benefit is a larger amount of trace minerals in this pink salt, beneficial to you if actually ingested somehow before they are cooked away, etc.
If you look into the science of salt in general, that is also true of regular salt depending on origin and processing which i just read in my "what Einstein told his cook,
" book. It all came from the sea essentially, some has just been subjected to different surroundings and for differing amounts of years. It's all very interesting. I found out for instance during this review of information that the designation of sea salt isn't regulated by the FDA for instance and in most cases it is little to no different to salt not designated as sea salt, and vice versa.Visit my blog, dedicated to my Big Green Egg Recipies at http://www.bigtsbge.blogspot.com You can also follow my posts on FaceBook under the name Keep On Eggin' or the link http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Keep-On-Eggin/198049930216241
