A bit of a drive, but would it be worth it for this price?

JT, Not sure of the price of large eggs in your area with a nest and side shelves and plate setter...the CyberQ II has the capability of controlling two eggs if you have a second fan and probes. Consider the fact that you do not get the life time warranty that goes with every new egg sold by an egg dealer. I'm not sure about the warranty the CyberQ II may carry. You can also take into account you won't pay taxes on the used egg. I guess you will be close to $1600. new tax and all. Also keep in mind you haven't seen the egg ie if it has any cracks. The money you save is also contingent on how far you have to drive to get it. Sounds to me the seller does not like the BGE or has to many...
  • If I am looking at a used egg what are things I should look at that would give me a red flag besides cracks?

cracked base is the biggy, you need to view underneath the base, as in tip it over, a crack sometimes will start in the lower corner of the vent and disappear, it can be really difficult to see. cant help you with the price, i dont use most of the extras that are included though it does seem a little high to me

What Fish said plus look at the fire box they are notorious for cracking an many places and pieces so are the fire rings and with out a lifetime warranty you must replace them at your own expense. Call around and price those items and see if you want to afford replacing parts at your cost. Not saying it's a big deal but, at best you will have to replace the lump grate and every few years or so a new fire box. A new fire box we can afford but, a new base or dome might get a little pricey. Also, like boston_stoker said go to bubbatims site and read. ;)

"I am only selling this to make some room on my patio" this quote and the hyper marketing makes me nervous...
Southlake, TX and Cowhouse Creek - King, TX.  2 Large, 1 Small and a lot of Eggcessories.
  • I kind of thought that too especially with the picture shown as there is plenty of room on that patio...
