Anyone tried searing tuna on a cast iron grate in the spider? Looking for any tips/thoughts on amount of sear time with wide open vents.

That should work, I like to let my Tuna just look at the fire and the on the plate. Hot and fast for me.

  • Seared some ahi tuna last weekend-550 deg and rising on CI on spider-45 seconds per side and came out nicely cooked. Sorry no pictures.

Kinda like doing a beef steak.. A hot fire and a minute or so on each side, cooked to medium-rare at most. Depends on the thickness, and liking mine cut well over an inch, the time will be a bit longer. I find that Lawry's Havana Garlic & Lime marinade (30 min.) adds great flavor to tuna steaks.
