A high grade ceramic vs CI is one better in the egg?
See lots of posts on CI and not very many on ceramic.

Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given a Mini to add to the herd.

The both work. The enameled are just easier to clean and maintain. They also cost more.

CI will take a high temp direct flame.
Don't believe most of the other stuff will handle.
They are made for oven type temps.Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -
I've used mine at temps in the 550-600 range and they're no worse for wear.
(or should I say there know worst for where)? -
Good point but I don't believe he is asking about enameled CI vs standard CI.Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas

Do you have ceramic of some kind or enameled CI?Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas

i think he might actually mean 'ceramic', instead of enamled cast iron....
not sure though
i'd think, the CI (enameled or not) would be more ruggeded egli avea del cul fatto trombetta -Dante -
Yes, asking CI vs Ceramic (glass comp).
Had not thought of the direct heat on it.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given a Mini to add to the herd. -
Mickey,
I have found some great prices on these at stores like Ross and Marshalls.
If you want standard CI Academy Sports has good prices.
They also , at some stores have the enameled.Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -
My bad -- I guess I've never really paid enough attention to notice a ceramic dutch oven. I fell into the trap of what people usually ask on here, which is to compare enameled vs. non. Accept my apologies, please.

I've heard the enamelled ones are very easy to clean

I have the high end ceramic and the low end ceramic. On the ones that are cast iron I can't tell the difference in the cook.
Can't tell much difference between ceramic and CI cooking.
Ceramic aluminum DO's get hot spots so when using one make sure the lump is evenly lit or I may put in a pizza stone.
