For you guys that have taken your egg on the road, what is the best way to transport it? Any tips? I have a large with the fold-out shelves and took it to a BBQ last weekend. It was an absolute pain to move.

1. Remove shelves.
2. Remove guts (firebox and fire ring)
3. Vacuum out.
4. Get a friend to help you load it into the Minivan.
5. Re-install guts.
6. Strap it to the seats.
Once you get there, reverse the procedure and re-install the shelves.
Done this five times from eastern Georgia to central Florida and back. -

I ended up taking the top out of the band and putting it on the floor. I wrapped the guts in bubble wrap and put them back inside.
Brought it 1500miles, smoked a brisket, and brought it back. -

I'll second that!

It makes lifting the large by two people a snap - or your small a one man job!

I have to agree. BBQ Maven and I moved 3 large eggs to a comp in Slidell, LA last spring. His potlifter make it easy to move the eggs on and off the trailer!
I have one on my Amazon wish list, hoping my kids will see it !
