Looking for suggestions on the type of rolls or buns to use for pulled pork? Plain old hamburger buns the way to go or is there something better?

The cheap hamburger buns work the best

I agree w/ Pat, the cheap buns are the best. All you want is something to hold the meat and keep most of the juice from running down your arm! :P :silly: :woohoo:

They're smaller than a hamburger bun but.....Kings Hawaiin sweet rolls. A pack of 24 sliced in half, warmed in the egg, and then stacked with pulled pork and a sweet (or even a vinegar based) sauce will go great. We had them tonight for the Auburn/Alabama game and loved them!

jerseyshore,
You have the right traditional information but I like a crusty bun. The ciabattas frome Costco are great!

My family (and many others in this area, including Q Barbeque) are partial to Martin's potato rolls for pulled pork sandwiches.BJ (Powhatan, VA)

We use a Telera roll,Like a Ciabatta only softer. It holds up to a lot of sauce and the aggressive eaters.

Steven, Steven. I am going to pass and wait for a more clever witted chap to come along! Rod, you want to take this one?

Go with the potato rolls. I used to use the cheap buns but the potato buns really are better.

PP Sliders!
Gotta love em! -

Well, the old school, real time answer is white bread... something like Wonder. It's the perfect bread for barbeque..... but this is the 21st century and things change.
Hamburger buns work great, but I'm partial to serving sliders with the Hawaiian rolls or Sara Lee's white rolls.Happy Trails~thirdeye~Barbecue is not rocket surgery
