Quick Cook - ABT's
BMW BBQ M5
Posts: 18
For my second cook I decided to try ABT's.... pretty happy with the results, although I had to use turkey lil' smokies because my wife couldn't find cheddar ones at the store. She couldn't find toothpics, or a second pound of bacon for that matter (why the hell did I send her to begin with?????)
I had to cut the bacon in half and wrap down the middle on most of them. No filling loss noted. I cooked them for 1.5 hours at 300. YUM!

Had them this weekend. Yours looks like you nailed them..Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given another Mini to add to the herd.

Are "Cheddar lil smokies" considered the standard filling for ABT's?

Turkey lil smokies and half the bacon - your wife is looking after the family's health

Something I learned here - I think posted by Thirdeye
It is easier to wrap/stretch bacon on ABTs and no need for toothpicks by:
1) Using thin bacon
2) Only taking a few pieces out of the fridge at a time -
looks good! i am debating making ABT's for myself tonight... Alhough looking at your pics i think will help make up my mind!

Thanks for all the helpful advice on this forum... makes the transition from gas to lump sooo easy.
The filling could've used a little kick for some extra flavor, so I think the cheddar would help. Who doesn't like more cheese???? I don't have any dizzy pig powder yet, but I have read you can sprinkle some on top when you are finished. My friend suggested using gorgonzola cheese as well. There appears to be no limit on what you can do with the filling.... and they taste just as good cold the next day. -
Has anyone made them with just a meat and sharp cheddar cheese without the cream cheese? Maybe that would be too greasy and/or messy. Just curious.
