Many of you know I did a rather large troop cook this past week-end. Six Large Eggs all puffing smoke plus a last minute gas fired cooker. Yes I said gas.. You have to do what you have to do..

Sorry no pictures of this. A lack of lights and when it did get light enough the monsoon rains had me busy keeping things from the 3" of water we were standing in. One of my coolers actually started to float away.

All in all I cooked 370 pounds of pork butt.

Three of the six eggs were being controlled by three DigiQ controllers and three by the new Nano Q Pit minder. None of which even cared if it was raining buckets.

Not being able to see a digital temp had me a wee bit worried and the three eggs they were attached too were brand spanking new. I didn't have a chance to check the thermometers for calibration. but I took a deep breath and relied on my trust of BBQ Guru Products.

I quickly saw the three Digi Q lock into temp. One by one I watched the three Nano Qs do the same thing. As it turned out the thermometers on the three new eggs were almost spot on.

Setting the desired target temp is so easy stike can do it.. Five pushes of the Up 5 button and they were locked in on 250 degrees. +/- 10 degrees. I used my Thermopen down into the dome and it happily read between 248 and 254 on the three eggs.

After a couple hours of watching the lights flicker and hearing the appropriate fan start up. I went to sleep assured when I woke up the eggs would still be cooking.

They were indeed still cooking. Despite the deluge of rain the little Nano Qs performed with all the heart and soul of their big brother Digi Qs.

I will tell you they do not keep track of the meat temp, so they don't have the ramp mode. Even without the digital temp readout I was quite impressed with their performance.

I wholeheartedly give my endorsement to these little wonders. If you just want a device that will keep your eggs cooking this is it. If you are looking to replace your old Analog Pitminder, the NanoQ has arrived.
