An article in the Sept Bon Appetit caught my attention. "The great $20 chef's knife" by Mundial Cutlery of Brazil who has manufactured private label knives for Henkels and others. It has a 10" Carbon Steel Blade, Polypropylene Antimicrobial Handle, and according to the magazine has a "well balanced feel". Evidently it is a favorite among caterers due to the low cost, reducing valuble loss risk on catering jobs (or eggfests).

mundial is a good knife, my clam knives have stood up well. maybe a new one for the camp

Sam's Club carries one that looks like this one, its in the restaurant supplies area. -RP

Mundial makes same very expensive knives. I purchased this set a while back based upon the rave reviews. These are nice knives with that high end twang to the blades.

Slotmercenary

You can get Tramontina knives at Sam's that are high carbon SS. I have been using them in commercial kitchens for years and they are a great value for the money. with a slight touchup weekly with a Chefchoice 120 and they hold a great working edge. Other than the shape of the handle they look almost mirror image.
