Turkey Legs - can't find them
Mickey
Posts: 19,768
Went to 3 stores in 3 citys and not a turkey leg to be found. Ask all 3 mgr's and one said he ordered them and was shipped thighs. The others had no idea why no legs.
Could it be just in this part of Central Texas area or am i missing something about turkey legs.
Have never went to get them and not found them before.

Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given a Mini to add to the herd.

Ever see any Turkeys strutting around?
-
Turkeys are now breed to have such big breasts that they can no longer walk and keep falling on their beaks so their legs have been eliminated. Looks like you are going to have to settle for beef legs.

How do you make pinto beans with-out smoked turkey legs?
About a year ago was told on this forum about smoked legs in pintos and that is the only way i want them anymore. Pulled smoked turkey legs is very good.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). I just bought a whole breast for tomorrow so I know there's at least a couple of legs and wings running around somewhere :side:
:P -
I find them in latin grocery stores here in central florida.

Can't answer for what's going on nationwide, but I normally go by a closed down turkey processing plant that the story goes where shut down account of too high prices for turkey feed, thus a small supply of turkeys.
That's what I've heard, so take with a grain of salt as I've not tried to confirm the info off the grapevine.aka marysvilleksegghead

I said to my wife, 'Where do you want to go for our anniversary?' She said, 'I want to go somewhere I've never been before.' I said, 'Try the kitchen.'

I just looked at a map. A bit far ,Austin, for turkey legs! about 90 miles round trip, right? Oh, yea, Plano banner should be up soon!
