...these butter pears? Have you tried any more since we spoke last month. They were seasoned with lemon juice, olive oil, sea salt and cracked pepper then filled with a yogurt, cucumber and dill sauce.

Welcome to the neighborhood, I see this is your first post.
Well they at least need a a little olive oil and lemon juice. From there on out it's up to you, it's more of a technique than a recipe. These were on the basic side with salt and pepper. I have a Mexican fruit and veggie seasoning called Chili Con Limon that is good on them, as is lemon pepper, or you can use a sweeter rub.
For the sauce, a salsa or pico de gallo or even a marinara is good. The one I used tonight was cucumber/dill in a yogurt base. I've had them with blue cheese sauce, and I also like some good balsamic vinegar drizzled on them. If you serve them with grilled shrimp, some cocktail sauce in the cavity is a neat way to serve everything.
For grilling just plop them face down over a medium hot fire, for about 6 or 8 minutes. Check them after 3 or 4 to make sure things aren't getting too western. You'll know when they are ready. Then remove and fill the cavity with whatever.Happy Trails~thirdeye~Barbecue is not rocket surgery -

Thanks! I've been lurking around for a few weeks laying low and learning plenty from all the great people here. I retired last month from the phone company and decided I needed something to keep me out of the bars! The wife and I bought a large BGE and have been going crazy. I should have done this years ago. I'm thinking of buying a small one to take to chili cookoffs, etc. Would it be easy to transport? Thanks for your help!

Thirdeye...I am sure Bubba Tim will answer you in the morning....but in the meantime, you'll have to settle for Bubba Tim-ette! :blink: We tried them once just before the contest, and to be honest, they have not been back on our radar since. The one time we did try them, we definately had the fire too hot. We ended up with black grill marks, yet the avocado still uncooked...so, not the best. But, it was simply operator error!
Yours look totally delicious. We will have to try them again...(next week...got a competition this weekend...so we will be traveling). Don't let me forget next week! :huh:

As far as traveling - We are taking Rib Bones' small egg down to the keys with us in a month and are making a transport box. I will be sure to post pics and let you know how it is.

Took me a few days to finally try them. Mine looked kinda half-arsed,but the flavor! Oh,man! These things are fantastic!I put some picante sause in the holes, next time I'll get the cucumber sauce. Gyro sauce?
