Well I'm just getting over the uper respetorie flue. Problem is wife coming down with it as well as my 71 year old Dad. Hate it about the wife but really do for my Dad. Don't feel like a long hard cook and the blacken talopia I did several nights ago was really good so did some cat tonight. OK we all know to get everything geathered up b4 we start the cook right?

Brought the Egg up to about 400 pit and melted butter and a little EVOO.

Coated the cat in Louisana brand blackening and tossed them in with a couple slices of limon. These suckers were thich so cooked alittle lower temp and fliped every 2 min till the fellete was "loose"

Next up some butterfly shrimp in mix of the blackening and some DP's Swamp Venium with juice of 1/2 a limon.

Also blacken some shrooms and plated it all up.

Jake was well pleased no fowel were hurt during this cook!

On a side note the wife knocked the Indian Death Elephant pepper plant off the sofa where it was sunning 3 days ago. When I pulled sofa back it was laying in the carpet with no dirt on its root. Stuck it back in some dirt making sure tap root was not bent and look. A six leafer. One tough plant!!!! :pinch:

I chunked a lump of hickory in just for habit and its a stronger smoke but really this cooks so hot and fast it really doesnt add that much. I did on the fish close both vents and let it "seap" in the smoke the last 2 min. of the cook.

My meditations in a bit young William! :pinch: The shrooms were left overs from the pizza last night. Since they were all ready sliced they wouldn't keep to long.
-
Thanks Tom. bill mentioned matzo ball soup in a reciant email. Clames it cures everything from colds to assorted "social diseases" . Never heard of it downd hear but big bowel of grits sure make your belly feel better!

Great idea to combine blackened fish & shrimps.....feel hungry....doesn't seem like I've just had dinner..... :cheer: -
Rod I think me and you could end the population of shrimp on earth as we know it given a chance! What kind of peppers you go planted? Was going to set out my herb bed but the storms have been so bad afraid the wind would break the young plants.

Hay Beli whats your problem!! Eather I have just been missing them or your slowing down on your great cooks AND pics. Always look forward to'em! :woohoo: Almost feels like the tropics outside tonight!!
-
all i did from seed was jalapenos and bells. i am buying some poblano plants this weekend.
Way too early to put it in the ground here, but I like a good head start. -
To early for us to. I like to get a small herb bed out early as I can cover it with a tarp incase of frost and the summers are so hot and dry they just shut down tinder herbs.

JL........Great weather around here as well......here is yesterday's cook... all the best buddy.

I was gonna do that same cook tonight. While I was at the store looking for blacken seasoning, something changed my mind and I decided on sliders instead.

Good looking cook!
Bet Jake would have quite a day if he got hold of that pepper! :silly: -
That's perdy!

Looks great and I know just what it tastes like. I've been doing catfish with shrimp for the last couple of weeks. Some with DP Shakin the Tree, some with Swamp Venom. After watching your fish posts the last couple of months, this is my go to fish cook. Plus I like cooking on cast iron.LBGE Katy (Houston) TX
