Haven't posted any pics in a while but have always been cooking. Found Eggtucky's recipe for Red Beans and Rice a few weeks ago and decided to try it out today. Just wish it was a little cooler here in Central Texas.

They turned out very good and will definitely do again on a good cool football day.

Followed the recipe for the most part, smoked the sausage with some pecan and apple before I put it in with the beans and I also boiled the beans with the ham hocks on the stove. I cooked for about 3 1/2 hours on the egg with more pecan and apple. Had to add water once about an hour before I took them off. Didn't cook the cornbread on the egg as the bride had to leave for work, and I wanted dinner to be done before she left. Served over white rice.

Nice AG. Cooking for the bride today also since I'll be out of town the end of next week. Sad part is she is a great cook but won't go near the eggs so has me convinced she will starve to death if I don't cook. :(. Guess she worked me good  but I still get to cook :woohoo: Great looking meal buddy.

  • Thanks Eggtucky, afterall found the recipe in one of your old posts. Tasted great, leftovers for lunch and dinner tomorrow. Had a little heat to them, must have been from the hot smoked sausage i used. Will definitely be making again once it cools down a little.

If not just do a search for butts and red beans, and it is a thread he started with the recipe and pics.
