I'm gettin smashed. I made 4 changes yesterday, lost all 4. Had a couple in the bag and late comebacks negated the spread.

And now the Gators are opening it up against the PU.

Sigh...not a good week for me.

Nothing is worse in sports than running up the score, except maybe cheating. And I mean maybe.

It is just poor sportsmanship to keep your starters in and try to run up the score late in the 4th like that. Poor winners are worse in my book than poor losers.

Unfortunately the pollsters set a precedent this past week by punishing Mark Richt for not running up the score against Ga Southern.

If you mean the casinos, they don't care who wins. they get 10% of the juice on either side of the ball.
When casinos bet against other casinos, that is when people get mad.

Can't say that I disagree with you but it's the nature of the how they rank them and recruiting. Georgia dropped a spot last week for not winning by enough. It will come back to bite when your star player goes down when your up by 30.

It's wonderful how college football brings out the best of people. I guarantee if it was GA Tech vs UGA and UGA was ahead, you would not have the same opinion. The fact is in todays age of BS (I mean BCS) is points matter.

So what to do if you're Urban:

1. kneel on a 4th down inside the red zone and give up.
2. Throw for the end zone and really make you happy
3. Put up an easy 3 and give the ball to Miami

The only other option you would be happy with is # 1 and that is quitting in my book!

Your guarantee wouldn't be worth much then. See, you for some reason seem to have me pegged as a UGa fan, and that just ain't so. I guess that is the Gator in you biting back, so I'll dismiss it. Fact is, I am a football fan.

You missed the 4th option and that is take out your starters long before it got to that point. That isn't quitting, that is playing smart football - not subjecting your first team players to injury and not trying to insult the other team. It is not quitting to show good sportsmanship.

Football has become too much of a "me first" game. The philosophy is "don't take out the starting halfback - he might not have a shot at the Heisman unless he gets those extra 15 yds." It's too bad it has come to this. There is more to sports than championships and personal achievement.

You are correct to think I pegged you as a UGA fan, so I was wrong. The harsh bitterness towards Florida is usually harbored by a UGA or UT fan. So is it UT?

Have to agree with you Rod. The game is not the same with the way they rank today. It's not win or lose but by how much and thats not just for bragging rights it's also for rankings and recruiting which makes it a business. Still prefer college over pro's but the business side takes away the friendly rivalry's.

I agree. Also, in state recruiting for a select few players makes the win important and the score (or spread) just as important.

Sorry to disappoint, but I'm a Big 8 Conference fan. I still don't accept those Texas schools in our conference.

My disdain isn't necessarily for the Gators, but more for the tactics employed by them.
