I've noticed alot of forum users using the John Henry Pecan Rub so I did some Google searching and noticed some really interesting rubs by this company, including a Bourbon Rub, an Apple Rub, and a Cherry Rub, among others, and was wondering if anyone has any experience with any of these?

If so, what did you like/dislike, and what did you use the rub for?

I'll also be ordering the sample pack from Dizzy Pig as I've never used these before. If anyone has suggestions for some of these rubs as well, I'd like to hear what you guys have to say. Although I've only had my Egg for a short while, I'd like to cook pulled pork, ribs, chicken (breasts, wings, thighs) and steaks.

Thanks in advance for any feedback, and Happy Fathers Day to all you eggcellent fathers out there.

it is my understanding that JH is the maker and packer of the Big green egg spices. i use their line all the time as well as Dizzy Pig. i just did 4 butts with JH texas pig rub and they were fabulous. they also have a orange dill rub that is very tasty on seafood and chicken. the apple chipotle is good on ribs.
Dizzy Pig has a great line of spices also and i like the whole line. you can't go wrong with ordering BOTH lines of products.
try the JH beisket rub on brisket it is very aromatic and spicy..............

I have been wanting to try the JH stuff, especially the Pecan.

I need to place an order.

I would like to know if the BGE rubs are private labeled by JH. I really like some of the BGE.

DP, it is all very very good. Dizzy Dust is also good on a lot of other things, eggs for example.

Just curious Vincent Chase...I thought Johnny Drama did all the cooking in the house. What is his take on the rubs? B)

    Vincent,

I went with the JH pecan rub the first time, because of all the rubs my local dealer had on the shelf, that one was the only one in multiple sizes. You'll like it a lot, especially on the low-and-slow cooks.

I tried a brisket with their Texas Brisket rub--really good, too. Good idea to get their sampler pack.

My BGE dealer has 5-6 John Henry flavors, he recommended the sugar maple rub. I tried it twice. Once on ribs, didn't like it. Once on Pulled Pork, didn't like it. So it sits on the shelf. Any ideas?

I use the Pecan Rub on butts and ribs. I have his hot wing rub but haven't tried it yet - haven't done wings in a while.

I have also had his jalapeno rub in the past and it was very good too.

I pretty much use DIzzy Pig and JH Pecan as my only rubs now. They do better than I can on my own.
