i have some people coming over for dinner tonight, and i wanted to make some steak. usually, i serve London Broil, b/c it's easy to slice up and fan out on a server plate, and it looks really nice. [p]i was wondering if there were any other steaks that you can do that with? has anyone ever served Rib Eye or NY Strip that way?

Midnight Smoker,
beef tenderloin is perfect

London Broil...aka Top Round (can be "livery" tasting)
Flat Iron Steak (pictured above, and below)[p][p]And last...but not least...[p]Flank steak.[p]The least grade in these cuts I'd go for would be Choice![p]Evans
I spent most of my money on good bourbon, and bad women...the rest, I just wasted!! -
tritip or any of the steaks where the grain goes the long way. if doing the ribey, cook a ribeye roast and slice it up, or the whole tenderloin. one of the cheaper cuts is the rump roast, i cook those sometimes and tell every one its sirloin. the rump roast is very underrated as far as flavor and most times they are tender.
fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
fishlessman,[p]That's purty![p]Nice steel tooooo!!!!![p]Evans

Try a 2" thick USDA Choice sirloin cook to a medium rare state. They slice wonderful and are really an economic cut of beef. They have great taste and texture. Good luck, Tom

Midnight Smoker,[p]thanks all for the advice. i'll see what my local supermarket has available. i dont' think i've ever seen a tri tip there, so i'll probably have to go with a nice sirloin, or maybe some flat iron steaks. i'd love to get a whole tenderloin, but i ai'nt got that kind of cash...not after taxes anyway!
