Clam and Mussles Idea's

Unknown
edited November -0001 in EggHead Forum
I was planning on steaming up a whole bunch of these fella's today and I wanted to know if anyone has any idea's or pointers for things that have worked well in the past. My Idea was to do a whole bunch up in some desposable roasting pans with some garlic and wine. I figure 10 minutes at 350 ought to be about right?
Thanks

TheStormyDog,[p]I've never steamed them in my Eggs ....but I have made a cowboy steamer that I bet will work. On camping trips or at my fishing trailer, I use two aluminum pans. In one pan, I add beer, garlic, onion and a few rocks, golf ball size. They must be taller than the level of beer. I poke a bunch of holes in the bottom of the second pan. (I bet you see where this is going!) Then nest the top pan in the one with the beer and rest it on the rocks. In the top pan, add your clams, mussels, shrimp etc, sprinkle on the seasoning then cover the whole cowboy steamer with foil being careful to seal it on the rim of the bottom pan. Poke one or two holes in the foil cover. Set on the edge of a big campfire or on coals and once you are puffin' steam you have about 6 to 10 minutes till they are done.[p]Oh yeah, if you use water, this steamer works for veggies too. You can also reheat pre-cooked pasta in this outfit.[p]~thirdeye~
