Gasket on top of dome with regulator cap

I just switched from the daisy wheel to a regulator cap recently and have noticed a good amount of smoke leaking out of the bottom of the regulator cap. I had some left over gasket from the base and lid that I tried to put around it but it was way too tight of a fit when I put the cap back on. Is the gasket material BGE uses for the caps the same as what they use on the lid and base or is it thinner? Thanks for any info.

It’s the same stuff I believe. I have more eggs than I should and I’ve noticed eggs over the years have varying chimney sizes. The caps and daisy wheels fit a little different. You can try putting gasket material on the top of the chimney instead of around the neck. Here is one of my mediums where I wrapped the top and neck of the chimney with nomex, glued on with automotive gasket maker. I can’t remember where I got the nomex yeas ago, but it’s thin.

Thanks for the reply. I played around with it and was able to get it on there pretty good. Still tight but that should let up with a few more uses.

It is definitely a tight fit. When you think about it though, you really don't need it take it on and off that much. And it does lose up over time. Cheers!
