we have been doing keto for a few weeks now and sauces for BBQ are difficult to come by as most have ketchup or sugar. i have got a really good Jalapeno mustard i came up with and have been using, an Alabama white sauce that everyone asks for but looking for that killer vinegar style sauce to add to the rotation. any input would be greatly appreciated we have our little guys party in a couple weeks and will be having pulled pork.

@DoubleEgger posted one on an earlier post of mine that I really like and it is simple. Look here: https://eggheadforum.com/discussion/comment/2352742#Comment_2352742Ubi panis, ibi patria.

My wife found this sugar-free sauce at the supermarket. It's good in it's own right, but makes an excellent base for customizing to suit your own tastes. I add a little bit of cider vinegar myself. Kent, this is not a recipe, but a good start for your own blend.

I don't know if this fits the keto bill, but Shack Attack Sauce has done the rounds on the bbq-brethren forum for quite a while, and seems to be well received. It's been on my list for a couple of years now, but just haven't got around to making it yet .

thanks @DoubleEgger i appreciate it, i am wondering if use tomato paste and fake brown sugar to make it more keto friendly if it would taste the same. i have some experimenting to do.

Just be careful using the fake sugar products. The whole point of going Keto is to change the chemistry of the food you intake and how your body reacts to it. Some of the fake sweetener products, while not having the calorie count of sugar, get the same response as if using sugar. They may be counter productive to a keto diet. Check with your medical/nutritionist specialists.Kent8621 said:thanks @DoubleEgger i appreciate it, i am wondering if use tomato paste and fake brown sugar to make it more keto friendly if it would taste the same. i have some experimenting to do.Southeast Florida - LBGE
In cooking, often we implement steps for which we have no explanations other than ‘that’s what everybody else does’ or ‘that’s what I have been told.’ Dare to think for yourself. -
In the interest of one-stop shopping, here's a cut & paste copy of the recipe posted by Boshizzle on BBQ-Brethren forum. For clarity's sake, there was discussion of what "kitchen salt" is and the answer is it's table salt.
Shack Attack BBQ Sauce RecipeHere is a delicious version of an old VA BBQ sauce inspired by a VA BBQ man named Shack. I drink this stuff straight, that's how good it is. It has no sugar in it, so sweet sauce fans may want to stay away.
1 1/2 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup of your favorite hot sauce
1 Tablespoon (TBS) Paprika
1 TBS Black Pepper
1 TBS Kitchen Salt
2 TBS Yellow Mustard (French)
Mix well, let sit for at least 24 to 48 hours before serving for best results. I blend it in my Ninja, that's why it's about 16 ounces total.__________________

Thank you for this. I was looking for a good vinegar recipe for tonight and this works perfect. I added about a tsp of the same rub I used on the pork and love it.DoubleEgger said:Here’s a Lexington NC style sauce.

This has just a bit of sugar but fits your other requirements. My favorite on pulled pork.

Shack Attack is good stuff.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!
