    As you would in the oven, 425, they are done at 205, flip around 35 min after starting them and reposition for hot spots.

    Smoked spuds are legit. I did some with a kiss of apple a few weeks ago...wife asked me to keep them in the regular rotation.

    I rub them with butter and apply a liberal coat of garlic salt before the bake.  Try it.

    Baked potatoes on the egg are a favorite in our house.  I have been using the recipe linked below from Cooks Illustrated.  I just do it on the egg instead of the oven. Simple - and delicious.

    Peanut oil is involved in an open flame somehow. Just a guess.

    Flavors it. Nothing else. And in fact, the salt on the outside isn't enough, you still need to add more salt and butter on the plate. And, if you are manly, pepper also.

    I've always oiled but not salted.  Wouldn't have thought salt would penetrate the skin.  Thanks @DMW ;

    Big overthink here.  Assuming you’ll at the skin, Kosher salt and some olive oil make it amazing.  No salt penetrates, all about crispy, salty skin.  Yum.

    I guess I better stick to salt.  I'm not sure how manly you have to be to qualify for pepper.
