My tree thing from BBQ guru kept falling apart and I wanted to make a way to clip my probe on and off easily so I fashioned this. A barrel nut grooved at each end and ramped so it would slide into place and voila! Adjustable too. Anybody else have something that is similar or easier?

I'm not familiar with "barrel nuts" but that looks like it could solve at least a few problems, thanks!

Nice solution, but I never bought one of their trees. Instead I used to just clip my temp gator on to my meat probe stuck in the meat. Works for me. If you don't want to do that then clip it on the probe of your dome thermometer.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time
