    Alabama got their start at the Bowery in Myrtle Beach during the summer months, but during the winter, they performed at a real dive close to Greenville SC called Chief's. When they came back to Greenville for a concert, it sold out quickly. A women I worked with husband owned a Mexican restaurant that the band had lunch at and told him that the band was going to jamb at Chief's after the concert. A group of us went there and stayed until the sun came up. We were with a few of the group that got there first and, obviously, we weren't used to that kind of place. A guy at the bar asked us if we were there to see Alabama and we replied yes. He said , "Well, my name is Yahoo, and this here is Fat Baby, indicating his significant other, and you stay with us and nobody will bother you". It turned into a magical evening with Alabama performing about three feed from our seats until the sun came up the next morning. Now there is another story about a friend of mine that was an ATF agent shutting down the Bowery for an expired liquor license one night, but that's a story for another time. I have had a colorful past, lol.
