saw this on the food network the other night on one of those "best ever" shows and it did not disappoint. I was already heading to nashville so I made this our lunch stop. Went by the downtown one and the line was two blocks long! My heart sank. I had planned this meal for a week. Looked on Apple maps and there was another one about ten minutes down the road. We hit it just right and ordered and sat down in about 10 minutes. I ordered a small white plate dunked in medium. It was amazing. Out of this world the skin was so crispy and flavorful and perfect heat. It was fried to perfect and the inside was the moist juiciest fried chicken I had ever had. My wife tried mine and thought it was way too spicey. She had the southern and it was great too.
I asked for a sample of the shut the cluck up and it was on fire!! I don't think I could eat it for a meal but really had a great flavor for a few wings or for fun. It really took a minute to hit you so I told my dad it wasn't that hot. He would not let me have one up so he said "oh give me that son" and dunked a tender in it full force. I was almost rolling on the floor crying watching his face. It rocked his world!!

I was sporting my Hattie B's T shirt today. It's my Nashville staple when I'm in town. Glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks, I always wanted to go eat there.

Thanks for posting - that looks fantastic! Sadly, I'm nowhere near Nashville.
Coincidentally, I did order a deep skillet this morning, so I can try my hand at homemade fried chicken.Phoenix -

Yeah the one downtown is always ridiculous. That second location is the key. Between the walk in tourists and the college kids and hipsters you can't hardly eat at the main one anymore.

If you are in the Cool Springs area off I-65 (between Franklin and Brentwood south of Nashville) and don't want to drive to the two other locations the here is a meat & three named Bishops you should try. This is the family that started Hattie B's (Hattie Bishop was the grandmother). They serve the hot chicken on request so you can get your fix w/o the crowds (unless the Christmas shopping crowds are in full force).
@The_Stache has has eaten at almost all of the hot chicken places here and can steer you in whatever direction you want to go for hot chicken.Near Music City in the Boro

As @Possumtrot said, I'm all in for HOT CHICKEN!! Next time you in for the tour there are a NUMBER of GREAT Hot Chicken and Hot Fish "joints" in Nashville.
My preferences over Hattie B's is Pepperfire in East Nashville and probably 400 degrees downtown. All have fantastic HOT chicken (can't vouch for the "medium" stuff!)
Also, the Original Prince's has opened a new place off of Nolensville Pike that doesn't require quite the wait that the old store did.
I'm in ANYTIME ANY DAY!!! I would post my Phone Number but I feel I might get Buffalo'd
