It's My Rub Nuts

I ran across a simple old recipe on the Web for making flavored dry roasted peanuts and tweaked it for myself with Kelley's and Bruce's "It's my Rub" smooth blend.
Seems my neighbors are now wanting these all the time.

It’s My Rub Nuts. (Peanuts)

2 Cups Planters Dry Roasted Peanuts
2 Tablespoons Real Butter
2 TABLESPOONS Underwood’s “It’s My Rub”

Preheat Egg to 325 Indirect.
Put peanuts in bowl and microwave for 1 minute, stir and microwave for another 30 seconds.
Stir in melted butter till all of the nuts are well covered.
Add the rub and stir until all of the nuts are coated with It’s My Rub.
Spread them out on Non-Stick aluminum Foil on a flat pizza pan
Once Egg up to temp add 2 pieces of Orange Wood (Any Fruit Wood should work)
When Smoke is rolling, cook nuts indirect for 7-9 minutes.
Remove from Egg and let them cool if you can.

Enjoy

Yet another thread title that could have taken an entirely different path.  Good looking nuts.

@500 Thanks, it is so simple to do. Will probably make a batch whenever the large is hot.

I love spicy nuts. Meant to buy some of Bruce and Kelley's rub in Salado, but ended up forgetting to. The PBR did it.

Interesting.  I wonder what would happen if you substituted raw peanuts in this recipe (and let them cook longer, obviously).  I might have to try this since I have some on hand.  I don't have the 'It's My Rub' but maybe I could try Dizzy Dust or something else I happen to have on hand.

I would think a sweet sugary rub would do nicely.

@Hotch:  Yes, please, if you have time, make some to bring to Athens.  I'm dying to try them, but don't have time this week to make any.

@NPHuskerFL I will try to make a couple of jars for GA Mnt Fest. You need to find us early. These will be behind the table so to speak. They don't last long.

Curious to why you'd heat the nuts in the microwave.  I would think you'd be risking overcooking the peanuts (which are already fully-cooked) on the (necessary) smoke on the Egg, but this recipe has you cook them in the microwave, too??

    Three reasons I believe
    1. It was in the recipe
    2. Warm them up so the butter does not solidify while stirring in the rib
    3. What can I say I Like my nuts warm
