Last night we were overwhelmed at a neighbors small wine party. They served some cheeses which were quite tasty, but the bell of the ball were these simple looking oatcakes from Hyde Park, MA. Not sure how long they have been in business, but the packaging implies they were a family recipe from Nova Scotia which arrived in Boston in the 1940's but just now being introduced to the public. The description is...a biscuit for tea...a cracker with cheese...a cookie as a light and tasty snack. I can just attest to them being GREAT! My mind has been working overtime just how I might use them to further knock a BGE related item into the next century! Smoked salmon spread is one thing for certain! BTW These were not bought at some boutique, but at our local Kroger store! Granted our Kroger upgraded their cheese section and spreads to those offered by Murray's and booted out most of their old brands they stocked. BTW if you get hooked on Effie's I can't blame you - they are GOOD!!!
