Impressed my 'non egg' friends with corn pizza and the clam pizza

I'm fairly new to cooking on the egg and learning from the guys on this forum. My first pizza was too smokey and unfit for human consumption, but I kept at it. Yesterday, family and guests were impressed with the pizzas that came out of the BGE.  For those who want to try something a little different, a Corn or Clam Pizza can taste pretty darn good.  Weird, right? The idea came from a recent pilgrimage to Pepe's Pizza in New Haven (ranked # 7 in USA) to try their clam pizza which they've been making since 1924. When I came home, I thought about how good an Alfredo pasta dish was with clams. Put one on the BGE and my wife loved it. For those who want to impress their friends with their culinary skills, or just try something different, here it is.  Thanks to the egg and some 'different' toppings, some of my friends think I'm a pizza savant. I'm not.

It's simple. For the sauce, just use Alfredo sauce which can be bought at local grocery store for either the Corn Pizza or Clam Pizza.

For a Corn Pizza - over the sauce, top with some of the corn from a can of corn which was drained or grill some frozen corn, add some diced onion and throw on some mozzarella (feta works too). For a Clam Pizza - over the sauce, top with some of the clams from a can of clams which was drained or whatever clams you can get your hands on, add some diced onion and throw on some mozzarella.

Sometimes I lightly spread olive oil on the crust, but thats just me.

I have no special advice on how to cook on the BGE, as most of the guys on this forum could out cook me any day of the week. just cook the pizza as you normally do it.

I hope you like it.  Sorry I did not get pictures. I will get some from the next batch if there is any interest.

Always interest in pictures.  Interesting sounding pies.

Wow - that is a totally different direction - sounds very good.

Wonder if one could substitue crab meat for clams?

Whatever tastes good with Alfredo sauce would work. I'd give it a try. You could even try a couple different toppings on the same pizza. See which one you like best. Let me know if you find some you like. I know it sounds odd, but the clams or corn really went over well.

I like fried clams if they are fresh - but that kinda exhausts my love of clams.  Thats why I jumped to crab - I love corn and crab soup.

Well..., you might have something! It sounds good. I'm going to look up the corn and crab soup recipe right now

I have a Pepe's banch about 5 miles from my house. I keep meaning to try the clam pie, but somehow haven't made it there yet. I doubt it'll be as good as the Mothership in New Haven, but hopefully, it'll be close. This, supposedly, is the recipe...

    Here's another take on it...

I told Kenji I would be cooking it at about 725° for about 4 minutes. He said that would be fine. Apparently, it's very easy to overcook clams.

If I like Pepe's clam pie, I'll try one on the egg.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

I hate to say anything bad about Pepe's Clam Pizza, but we were not fans of the Clam Pizza. It was too strong and heavy on the garlic for us.  However his other pizza pies set the gold standard.

We found that the store bought Alfredo sauce on a freshly baked pizza crust with the right amount of clams and cheese is amazing.

I forgot to thank Carolina Q for the link to the recipes. You are fortunate to live near Pepe's.
