@ Flamethrower-no longer one but did spend 12+ years as a volunteer FF until the politics greatly outweighed the satisfaction and adrenaline rush.  Fortunately for the community the home construction ( even some with sprinkler systems) and alarm systems greatly reduced the calls but that resulted in more weight to the crap-and as a volunteer it was time to "declare victory" and move on.  And you can never avoid the politics:)
