I haven't tried that brand, but I have used Lazzari's (sp), and I find it is pretty strong in the smokey flavor department.
When I do use it, i'ts pretty sparingly.

Great price and it is Mexico Mesquite. You will get the strong mesquite flavor and it will be sparky when lighting if using any type of MAPP or propane.

Some of the pieces are very large, logs, and will need to be reduced in size.

For 15 bucks it is worth a try even if you don't want to bother with a few of the larger pieces.

I like using the mesquite when cooking beef or pork and some chicken cooks.

I you ever use mesquite flavor chips or chunks you will probably like the lump as a fuel source.

I bought one bag a while back just to try it out. We didn't like the flavor. Even at that price, I never bought it again.
  • Ditto on the Costco stuff. Nice bag at a great price, but it imparts an odd flavor IMO.
  • I went through about 4 bags before I decided not to use it anymore. Was $14.27 a bag at our local Sam's.

If you try it and light it with a torch make sure you have safety glasses on and don't go barefooted - sparks a lot - a whole lot.

Picked up 10-10# bags of Royal Oak at Walmart this morning - $6.27/bag
