Wanted to make Chili and I have read a lot of great things about Egret's chili however I don't have the Cow Lick Steak Seasoning is there a substitute I can use? I have Dizzy Dust, Tsunami spin and Red Eye Express Thanks for any tips.

I'd go with the general purpose Dizzy Dust if I were you. You'll be fine!

Thank You, I tried the recipe this summer when I first got my large and it turned out pretty good. I used a brand of steak seasoning from the grocery store. I never tried the cow lick seasoning so I have nothing to compare to. Do you think it may be worth waiting until monday when i can get some cow lick seasoning from my local dealer?

not in particular - it's not like that amount of DP is an overwhelming ingredient in that recipe! BTW Egret's Chili recipe is what I call a pantry recipe - you know adding a little of everything you have in the pantry, spice rack and cupboard! No offense to you...I just wanted to see if Grape Boy reads this! :woohoo:

  • As RRP says, you will be fine with the seasoning of your choice. Hey, chili is something that evolves!!
Happily egging on my original large BGE since 1996... now the owner of 5 eggs. Call me crazy, everyone else does!

Not sure if you seen or were notified but I stole your recipie for chili and passed it to someone else on the forum here. Just want to make sure you get the credit deserved and I did not cross the line.

The Red Eye would be my choice for a substitute if I had to choose. However, I'd suggest you get the Cow Lick next time....it really kicks it up a notch!
