  • Re: OT: The other uses for a Thermapen

I've used it to test the air temp coming out of the vents to make sure the AC is cooling to the right temp.
  • Re: Where to eat in New Orleans

If you even remotely like fried chicken, without a doubt, go to Willie Mae's Scotch House! They may only be open for lunch, but well worth it.
  • Re: What is your preference for raising the grid?

I just use three firebricks... cheap, dependable, easy.

@ptmurphy, it seems you have received some helpful and not so helpful thoughts. Let me try to assist as well. I have served in the US Army for over 12 years. I can say there is technology being used by the military that is rarely seen in the civilian sector. Every once in a while, however, an amazing product is released for civilian use. The Mangrates is one of those products. Although once called the M571G Tactical HOORAH, they have declassified it for public use. I am glad to see this product on the market today but I will warn you now, it will make you wanna go slap yo daddy when those burgers come off the BGE!!! I hope this helps.
You are right, CC.  I was there when they first beta tested a Mangrate on a Big Green Egg.  Some minor adjustments needed to be made.

Huh - like MAKE IT ROUND!

Wasn't so lucky - had to buy mine at full price.
