Pig\'s Tails and Chicken Wings

We first tried pig's tails at a local steakhouse. The place was kind of fancy so when they came, we first tried a knife and fork  The waitress brought hot towels for both of us and laughed. Needless to say, we got into them and they were amazing.
When I found these tails, I thought I would try them out. Most recipes call for braising, boiling, roasted then simmered in sauce. Instead, decided to do them like ribs and get some yard work done
Here are some pics
The tails
Mustard and Bonedust rub
On the Egg
On at 250/275 dome temp. Basted twice with apple juice and honey. They were on for about 5 hrs, sauced and put back on for 30 min.
Brought the temp up for the wings. Did them indirect. They are our first wings on the Egg. Wow!!
Finished off with some taters and grilled onion.
Thanks for looking.

When I first saw the thread title I thought "pig tails" was some kind of dish not the real thing!! Did they turn out tinder like a rib should? Actually look really good!
-
Yeah, they were great. There is not a lot of meat, but it was super tasty. But they also have this yummy fat, gristle, and the tips
-
Shane, I never heard of eating pig tails let alone see the cook. You did a fine job cooking them up. I'm sure the meat was very good. Great post, Tim

Shane it is not often we see a NEW item. I thought you were going to call something Pigs Tails - WOW.
Good for you, and good posting for us.
In this part of the world we have stores called "Fiesta" and they have lines of hog heads and all the rest. Never seen tails, but will look and try.
Man you would be the hit at an EggFest with Pig's Tails.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers. -
Thanks Tim

Thanks Mickey, I am a little shocked these aren't more popular. They are amazing.

Shane, well, that's a pig of a different color! Real pig tail's.   They look good, but I'm not certain I need all the gristle, fat, and pig skin. Did the pig skin get crispy, crunchy? I can't get over it, real pig tails.

  Thank You Rebecca
These are best suited in the appetizer section
The skin was more chewy but very tasty -
10 / 10 for trying something new.
But ugggghhh that looks like a human finger in the first pic.
I simply couldn't eat that.
Wings look awesome - nice job! -
they loook awesome....
It will be hard to find this on mexico...
but will have find a way... -
Thanks Guys
Found out tonight that tails are very popular in a city 30 min away that has a large German population. Quite a few places serve them and some local stores always stock them, they are also pretty inexpensive.
They also come halved, skinned, or tips removed. If you get a chance to try them, don't let the look of them bother you, they are fantastic.

Interesting. I too thought you were calling something a pigtail, not expecting to see real pig tails. Might have to give that one a go.

Grabbed some pigtails from the grocery store today after the request for recipes the other day. Glad you brought the idea up!

Hey ChocDoc
Would love to see how your pig's tails turn out and which recipe you go with.
