Hey Guys
Trying my first tri-tip today. I have done my homework and going to lean toward the Trex method.
Just going to do a simple rub of mustard and homemade montreal steak spice.
Any pointers would be great. Looking forward to trying this cut, if it works I have a pretty good supplier
Will post some pics if it works out
Thanks
Shane

Cook it to 5 degrees less than your perfect internal temp, then rest. I know it will be great.Happily egging on my original large BGE since 1996... now the owner of 5 eggs. Call me crazy, everyone else does!

Cool mine is going on right now. Went with Morro Bay Rich's rub and baste.
Egg coming up to temp.
Better get a beer and get cooking
Hope your cook goes well -
I'm sure your cook will go just fine. I like others love cooking and eating the Tri-tip steak. Tim

I'm cooking my first tri-tip today too! I had to order it special since the grocery stores don't carry it around here. Can't wait to try it myself.

Okay, I have to say that everyone that praised the Tri-tip cut was right. What an incredible meal! It was like having a 2 pound filet mignon - but better!
