I got this idea from others on the forum, but I just thought I would mention that this accessory is available for about $10 at home depot. The 6" vent cover fits the large perfectly.
Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Thanks for the reminder, I need to pick one up

oh, that's genius - thanks for the heads up

That is a Great Idea

It's hard to tell but I'm assuming no daisy wheel so this just sits directly on the top of the egg. If this is the case, how are you controlling the airflow out of the top?Joe - I'm a reformed gasser-holic aka 4Runner Columbia, SC Wonderful BGE Resource Site: http://www.nakedwhiz.com/ceramicfaq.htm and http://www.nibblemethis.com/ and http://playingwithfireandsmoke.blogspot.com/2006/02/recipes.html
What am I drinking now? Woodford....neat -
I have the 8" one so I can adjust the damper slider all the way around.

The cap is a great idea! Here is how I decided to keep the rain out.
The harder it rains, the lower I set the umbrella
Also keeps the rain out of my drink! -
Just be careful with those metal rain caps, they get VERY HOT in no time at all! (Unfortunately, I speak from experience. ) Also, they tend to fall off when you open the dome.

4Runner- The 6 inch actually fits over the daisy wheel, so you can have the "eyes" open but you can't open the slider. I picked it up for a low n slow pork butt cook.
This model didn't get all that hot during a low cook. I could take it off with my hands...still good advice to handle with care ;-)Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.
