Cindy and I live five miles from a Super Wal-mart. While we were there grocery shopping I look around for the clearance stuff looking for a bargain when I run up on a pallet of Royal Oak made in USA. The bags are a reddish orange color and are 10 pounds for $6.37 I think. So, it looks like we don't have to go out of town any longer for lump!

Civilization finally arrived.
-
when civilization arrives, i'm betting it won't arrive first at walmart.
let me rephrase that.... i'm hoping that the type of civilization it'll be, won't be the kind that arrives at a walmart.

That is what I have gotten here in Wa. at or about the same price. It has worked well for me.

My primary lump has been Green Wise from Publix a food store in 8.8 pound bags selling for $5.49 each. I also had to travel upwards of 70 plus miles to get it. Needless to say I would clean out the store of every bag they had. Also, while I was out I would pick up better cuts of beef. Often times we were going to the Doctor and while we were out might as well get a few things.

Good deal. I have been happy with the Royal Oak. It is a good deal at the $6.37 WalMart price.
My experience has been hit or miss. I went to one WalMart in my area that did not have Royal Oak. All they had was Match Light and Kingsford regular. The other WalMart in the area had about two pallets worth of Royal Oak last week end. I bought three bags right away. Should last me at least a week or two. -
Do it best also has it, a tad more expensive, but in a larger bag.http://doitbest.com/Charcoal+and+Lighting+Items-Royal+Oak-model-22817-doitbest-sku-809233.dib And they offer free ship to store.

Thats a better deal. Tim
I have a do it best store here in town I give them a shout. -
Yeah, I noticed 2 pallets in my local W*M store last week. I don't remember them stocking it this early in the season before, but it's good to know it's there. The Naked Whiz

That's right Wayne. I am going to see if my do-it-best store is stocking it as well.
Wayne if Royal Oak lump is readily available in your area would you still fool around with getting WG if it has to be shipped in and divided up amongst friends and still have to drive 60 miles for it? -
I would. You are looking at $13 for 20lbs of RO. For $15 you can have 22lbs of WG. I like the way it burns better. If I had the chance, I would go with WG 1st at that price. It generally has larger, more usable pieces

Alright! Thanks Gene.

Clerk at wmart told me that it is seasonal and they won't restock until March. They only had half a pallet left. As I understand, you can order doit's on-line and they will ship it to the store free-I will give it a try and let you know how it goes.

ranchonodinero, I am curious to know what you find out. Tim
I recently found a forum member in my area that gets pallets of WG on occasion and when that times comes I will load up on some but always keep RO for backup. -
I'd like to try WG-I'm sure someone in the DFW area carries it, but I haven't found them.
