I might have screwed up my pizza stone...

Did a high temp burn to clean off my pizza stone and my platesetter yesterday. There were a couple of spots still on the pizza stone that I wanted to see if I could get off so I grabbed my grill brush to use the stainless steel bristles to see if I could get them off. The problem is I have one of those grill brushes that has a steel brush on one side and a plastic scouring pad on the other. I wasn't paying enough attention and accidentally used the plastic pad on the pizza stone. It immediately melted the pad and left a big black streak across the pizza stone.
Is it still safe to cook on? Do I need to replace it?

I would think another high temp clean burn would get rid of it..ya got nothing to lose by trying...
-
try a hi-temp burn, see where that gets you first
-
zackly.
there is no way in hell i'd buy another one without simply trying that. that's some simple direct common sense, wess. -
turn it over for a while.

Hi temp burn with the melted plastic side down
-
Eggzactly, might as well be making some "za" with the melted plastic side down for a burn. A little residue on the mozz prob wont kill anyone.

I wish flipping it over was an option. I don't remember what brand it was but it's a ceramic pizza stone but not the BGE brand. The bottom is not flat like the top.
I like the idea of a high temp burn upside down. I will just leave out the platesetter this time.
On average how long does everyone let a high temp burn go? -
Do you have a weed burner or propane torch? You could burn it that way and scrape with steel wool or wire brush.

Till it's done. If your goal is to burn off the plastic, just check it once in a while, or just let it burn out.

Great idea. That would probably be easier since I could scrub while it's hot. -
Sounds like a pampered chef stone with the textured bottom side.
If so, be careful letting it go long periods at high temps, and be extra careful scrubbing it while hot. There have been stories of those things cracking and shattering at high temperatures. -
Jeff,
Ain't nothin common about common sense. Sept I'm fingerin you knew that. -
It's not a PC stone. I knew about that before buying this one. This is a ceramic one, which was sold by my local BGE dealer but is not the BGE brand. I want to say it was something like Home Solutions 360 or something like that. I've done many pizza cooks on it and never had a problem with it.

This seems to be a quick way to crack it (thermal shock).
