I'm also curious about your first cooking experience and where you're located. What did you cook and how did it go?
-
Great shot and welcome to the forum. I look forward to more of them and of what you cooked. You'll find pics help your reply count go up!

Nice. Reminds me of Tennessee.

MountainGriller,
Beautiful view indeed. I'm not sure from the pic but it looks like the egg is sitting directly on a paver. I have a similar set up and have gotten some feedback that it should be sitting on the BGE feet. Seems like BGE generally recommends some airflow beneath the egg to keep anything from scorching. I don't know if heat could transfer through that paver and scold the wood but just a suggestion I've gotten and thought I'd pass along.
Get some pics of some cooks for us :P -
Great view. What Matt said with regard to the pequeno verde piedras and the air gap.
-
The only thing wrong is that egg needs an egg friend :ohmy:Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers.

Welcome to the egg family!! That's quite a view you have there. Where abouts are you located? Hope to meet you at an eggfest sometime. Have fun with your new egg and don't forget to post pictures of your cooks.

MountainGriller, Welcome to the forum.
Nice view! Tell us more when you get a chance. Tim
There will be times when your BGE will reach very high temperatures and we have seen where when the egg is sitting on the paver on the table that the heat can travel to the wood and char and even burn the table. We all chose to use the feet from the BGE to raise the egg for an air space so charring may not happen. Tim
Merely a friendly suggestion to keep everyone safe.

I would like to thank everyone for their comments. My first cookout turned out real well - I didn't want to get the temps to hot so it took me awhile to bring it up to 350 degrees - I cooked boneless chicken breast - marinated in itlian dressing with a dash of soy sauce. Cooked the chicken at 350 for 35 minutes with an internal temp of 160 – I checked the internal temp with a Thermapen (great tool)
I will take you advice and put the feet under the BGE
Thanks

MountainGriller, That new egg looks so nice and shiny! I bet that chicken was the best! Your BGE is going to put out some wonderfully cooked food. Where are these mountains in the background? Tim
I would also like to pass along a link to some wonderful information. This information has been worked up by our own Grandpas Grub a member of this forum. Hope this helps.

The mountains in the background are located in NC, VA and TN, Thanks for the link

That is some beautiful country. I live in Lafayette, Tn. I have rode the tail of the dragon over by Deals Gap, NC but I have not rode around in your neck of the woods. Yet! Tim
-
Yes, this is beautiful country - now the challange is to cook up some great recipes on my new BGE - I'm a bit nervous about it. Got any tips?
-
Tim,
How many post does it take to move on to the next level?
Tom -
Tom, Here is something simple yet very tasty. I simply moused up to the button "Cookbook" at the upper left hand corner of this site. Where it says The Official Online Community...then click Recipes...than click Beef...than look for and click "The Best Cheese Burger".
If this is not something you wanted to do no problem just look around and find something else.
Here I did it for you so simply read and plan and ask more questions! Hope this helps. Tim

WOW, Thanks I'll have to try that.
Just picked up the BGE feet and a cap for the top.

Nice view indeed.
FYI-Your table is shipped with "Crating Bumpers", these are placed on the ends to protect your table's edge during shipping. They can be easily removed if you like.
