Time for oysters. Looking to try some new recipes.
I found the Tropical Storm recipe for oysters on the forum. Does anyone else have a favorite oyster recipe for the BGE?
Thanks,
RJ
PS. Oysters as an aphrodisiac is a myth...I ate a dozen last night and only 6 of them worked.

Deplesis,
Rockerfeller, Newberg or Diamond Jim Brady will work really well on the egg. I wouldn't do chowder.

Mr. Quigley roasted some on the half shell in Atlanta with just garlic and butter and were outstanding. Rockefeller is one of my favorites if I can get them to the Egg before I eat them raw.

This works for me.
Appetizer, Oysterman's Bloody Mary Shooters, Richard Fl.
On a recent trip to Panama City, Fl., my friend and I were told about a great seafood restaurant (Shuckums), known for oysters, while there enjoying the feast, I commented to the bartender that the sauce was great and might be good on BBQ ribs and was wondering what was in it. She was not sure, but said that a coworker might know and a few minutes later a man appeared who turned out to be one of the owners and had been there 25 years. After some friendly visiting he shared this sauce recipe with us.
INGREDIENTS:
2 oz Shot Glass
1 whole Oyster, cooked or raw
Squirt of Cocktail Sauce (recipe follows)
1/2 oz Favorite Bloody Mary Mix (I used Zing Zang)
Squeeze of Lemon Juice
Shot of your favorite Vodka
Cocktail Sauce :
48 oz Ketchup
4 oz Lemon Juice
4 oz Louisiana Hot Sauce
7 oz Red Wine Vinegar
2/3 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
2 oz ground Black Pepper
4 oz fresh ground Horseradish
4 oz.Worcestershire Sauce
Procedure:
1 Add all ingredients in the shot glass, then.........
2 down the hatch, no chewing!!
Cocktail Sauce :
1 Mix all together.
2 Makes a little over 1/2 gallon and will keep in the refrigerator 6 months plus.

I agree with Frank on the char-grilled oysters - the egg is great for grilling them up!
I like garlic butter and parmesan cheese but I have played around with other flavor/cheese combinations:
Then there is always the classic of oysters rockefeller:
Any way you choose to egg them, they will be great!

Can you just set oysters on the grill and they'll open up like clams?
Sounds a LOT easier than shucking! -
that is what i did ,, if they dont open dont eat em JL says you can use your injector to put vinegar /lemon / hot suace into the oyster while it is still closed i will try that next time

friday night i sat by myself at the counter in the Union Oyster House. had two dozen oysters and a half of littlenecks.
see here:>> The Union Oyster House
huge oysters, which my wife doesn't care for. great stuff.
oh, but she got to "enjoy" them, though. and no, i'm not talking about libido, i'm talkin about the dank sulfurous stink of the deep, the fetid stench of muck and mire, "Unwholesome sandflats, ...breathing upward sewage breath".
forgot what happens when you have a couple dozen of the big ones.
hahahahahaha
she's at the clothesline to air out the down comforter as we speak.
