Neighbors came over with a TON of steak...this was their first time eating steak off the BGE so how could I not go for broke:
Big ol ribeyes for the guys...
And two massive filets for the ladies, waiting for a bacon wrap...
Did TRex style with olive oil, DP Raising the Steaks, salt & pepper. Mesquite chunk to finish.

Nice neighborhood you live in!

Holy...uh...COW!! Man, now THOSE are some steaks!
-
I thought I cooked thick steaks :woohoo: That thing looks like a freakin roast!

Those look great. When they get that big, I like to sear them direct to get good grid marks and then finish indirect to my desired temp (by using a platesetter)
-
Great looking steaks Joe!! Those grill marks are beautiful. Did you use a CI grate? How did the guys end up with the ribeyes? That would be my choice.

Nice lookin' cook! In Oklahoma, we have a term for what that type of meal causes...
Meat Hangover!

yes- CI grate does a nice job with the sear. The ribeyes were huge but cooked normally TRex style, about 6 mins a side after the sear at 400 (I keep off to the side instead of use a plate setter) to get to medium rare. The filets were monstrous and I had to use my Thermapen to make sure I didn't undercook. Those were about 16-18mins total cook time to med rare but the ladies swore it tasted better than anything in any steak house! Success!!

Joe- you need some friends from California(Me)I bring the wine you supply the beef.Nice cook on those monsters hope your friends enjoyed them.
