Time again for my annual Safety Message:

If you want to be safe on the fourth, don't buy a fifth on the third

Now y'all go an enjoy the holiday weekend. And don't forget to fly your colors. It's important... Perhaps more important than ever.

Happy fourth Leroy and Judy, I bought my Fifth on the second so I guess I am safe.

The first Independence day celebration was held right here in Worcester MA on July 8, 1779 by The Sons of Freedom, the fourth was on a Sunday so it was delayed a few days. It was about three years before the war for independence came to an end in Yorktown when Cornwallis finally saw the light. Our forebears in Worcester could see it coming.
Bells were rung, cannons were fired and a display of firework delighted the crowd. "A number of toasts suitable to the occasion were drunk"

    Drink up!
