Howdy...
I got up early this morning and put some Pork on the Egg for Dinner today.
2 Six pound butts, rubbed with texasbbqrub and some hickory and Pecan in the egg for smoke.
The smell was out of this world. What a nice start of the day !
Around noon i added a small Dutch oven with some fried onions, peppers and Bacon and a small can of Beans. Mixed in some Honey, Bourbon and BBQ Sauce and let it simmer for a couple of hours
Later on i was looking for a plate setter for the mini egg and found this min iron pan in the cupboard. Perfect fit, looks like its been made for the mini egg.
So i quickly mixed a batch of honey cornbread and cooked it in the mini.
The pork was done after 11 hours and very tender and moist.
The Beans were just awesome. All the flavours blended very well, some of the best beans i ever cooked. If only i had used the big Dutch Oven...
By the way, i teared some meat off the roasts about halfway through the cook, chopped it up and mixed it with the beans.
I usually cook beans under the pork so i had try something different this time.
I also invited 2 atomic buffalo turds and a glass of gentlemen Jack to the party...
Life is good !

As the others have said, great post and pictures and the food looks incredible. Questions, nice large pieces of lump, what brand?
What probe is in the butt, nice looking cable/wire unit?
I too sometimes drink Gentleman Jack, very smooth indeed . Great stuff.
Keep the pictures coming. Oh, how did you do the bubbling beans thing???
Thanks,

The lump is argentinian Quebracho wood charcoal. One of our team sponsors is an argentinian family wich imports very good beef, wine and this charcoal. Its really some of the best stuff we get over here.
That Thermometer is made from the swiss company "outdoorchef". Its a probe thermometer wich also has a pit probe in the same unit ( the thicker part at the end of the probe). You can read both temps on the display in C or F and can set high alarms for both. Its also rated for higher temps that the polder, maverick and CDN Thermometer probes wich usually die at 400 F.
That animated gif was made by taking a couple of pics in a row, converting them to gif and then making this slideshow out of them with a tool called "unfreez". Just google for it, its freeware.

I LOVE that you have the dinosaur bbq sauce in the background. I don't know where you are geographically, but they have a dinosaur bbq in NYC and 2 upstate near where I went to college. Awesome place and their sauces are fantastic... I use the one you have to throw smoked chicken wings in and then put back on a high temp egg w/out the platesetter for a few minutes before serving...
New York BBQ should not be underestimated!!!! -
Hey Don,
