Nest or Table
Options
Now that I have made my mind up on purchasing an egg.
Some insight on nests or tables would be great! Which one would you recommend! I was going to buy a nest to get my by! But I am thinking about going all out and getting a table! Hate to make 2 purchases! just worried about the upkeep of a table (stain....)
Love this site!

My large BGE came with a nest. I had a table built for me by a friend a few months later. I love my table.

That depends on if you are wanting the egg to mobile or stationary. I would build a table and put two casters on two of the legs just in case you want to move it. Also, the table seems more appealing and funtional anyway.
-
I really do not need it to mobile! I live on a lake with high winds and I am concerned about the wind moving the nest or possibly tipping it over!
-
Unless you're planning on moving it around a lot, I'd go with a table. I've seen too many pics of tipped-over Eggs to be comfortable with a nest. Plus the table gives you a bigger platform for putting down large pans, trays, etc.
-
My table is 6' long and I can roll it around.
I love it...

Wind is not an issue unless you have frequent tornadoes in which case, the Egg should be the least of your concerns obviously.

I was thinking about putting casters on my table, but I really don't move it enough to make it pay.

Well, I think we've made this issue as clear as mud for him.

for years i had an egg sitting on a paver that was sitting on a milk crate. i had wire tied the hinge to the deck railing for the winds. the table is the better choice but i havent gotten to that yet, some day soon maybe. getting closer to a field stone stucture with a concrete top, maybe some bar stools to look out over the lake. slowest project you will ever see, only been about 7 or 8 years now dreaming it upfukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it

every time i think about spending the bucks on a table, i think about all the meat i could buy with that money, and i leave my eggs in their original nests
-
I have the nest with side tables. But I put another small patio table next to the nest. That way I'm still mobile, but I have a serious and stout table when I need it. Best of both worlds.

Most people go with lawn mower type wheels or air filled tires on the heavy end and swivel wheels on the other. Some swivel wheels have a locking mechanism on them. As for only putting wheels on the heavy end, I say put wheels on both ends because there will be no LIGHT end.
