What size of Egg is best

Most will agree the large/small combo is perfect but it all depends on cooks you will be doing. I can feed 20 plus easy without using the 2'nd large
-
I would say large. A size that is very versatile.

Large!!!

I have the Extra Large. Would not trade it for the world. It is true that the lid is heavy and the mechanism that was invented by BGE is useless at best, but if you are not a 12 yr old girl it is not really an issue.
The large will work for 90% of your cooking, but that extra grill space is nice when you have 3 racks of ribs, potatos & corn on the cob. Sure you could get a second egg to cook your extras, but why when you can get the extra large?
Either one you decide to roll with.. Enjoy my fellow egger! -
You are just fine. Thank Santa and go throw some lump in that egg.

What do you consider "large volume cooking"?
And the lids are not that tough to manage on the XL. I don't own one but have cooked on a couple - they are spring assisted. -
I vote for the large, they are very user friendly.
Say, with a name like WyoEgg would you be from the Cowboy State too??Happy Trails~thirdeye~Barbecue is not rocket surgery -
I vote for the large you can cook 6 full racks of ribs.

Howdy Partner!
Wouldn't go any smaller with the WYO Wind! Had an ol' Smokey blow away easily; and the neighbor's 3/4" X 6' glass table top got lifted off the base a few times--and it was in a "protected" area :side: Am new to the BGE scene, but would recommend stiking with the Large cause I think you'll burn a whole bunch more fuel in the Xl with the "Wyo breze" factor (even though it's not supposed to make a difference, here at the other end of the Rockies it still does!
PS Love these WARM NM winters  -

I've got an XL and have no issues with the lids at all. You have probably heard that the lids were hard to manage from guys who have the original XL with the old style hinge. The new hinge is spring assisted on both sides and opens up back and over. Big fan of it. I also have a mini for those times when I only want a single steak or single chicken breast. Essentially, anything small I throw in the mini so I don't burn up as much lump.
If you can swing the XL my call would be to go for that one. A number of the posts here talk about having multiples which is also good. The mini is too small to cook for a group of more than 2. I'd recommend an XL for the homebase and a small for travel purposes.
Enjoy. Send Santa my way next year. Always happy to have another one. -
I've got a large BGE that I purchased a three-tier rack for. I use it when I'm cooking for a bunch of folks - two dozen or so. You can probably have your dealer order one for $50 - $60.

Well, that depends on how liberal your definition of "red" is..... If you can tell me the name of that damn grape brandy drink from Catacombs you introduced me to about 15 years ago, I would say....yes I am.Happy Trails~thirdeye~Barbecue is not rocket surgery
