When storing the Green Egg for the winter, is there any way to avoid the development of mold? Last spring when i uncovered my Egg I discovered a good amount of mold buildup. Removing it isn't a big problem, but I was wondering if anyone has any storage tips for avoiding mold buildup. Thank you.

Why store it? Keep cooking on it..

Why would you store it? Fire it up and cook something. Course thats easy for me to say in Fla.

The best way to avoid mold is to keep using it that way no mold has a chance to grow the egg is not like your ordinary grills u don't use it just for the summer then put it way until the next summer u keep using it year round...thinkin why would one want to store the egg because it's getting colder???

Why store it? We have Eggers in Canada and Alaska and they keep cooking on their BGE's all winter...

Except for Mike. Did you see the look on his poor little daughters face when he told her it was too cold? :(

Some of my best BGE memories come from the wonderful aroma of pork butt being smoked when the temp is in the single digits. The sharp fragrance cutting thru the cold to warm the tastebuds is second to none...almost.
Do not waste half the year by putting the Egg away.
Shame on you for even thinking of storing it for the winter. -
Store on the deck or other open area. Do not store in the kitchen. Others may frown on that.
Burn some lump at least 3 times a week at sufficient temperatures to avoid moisture buildup and at the same time apply various cuts of meat to the grate.
Keeps the mold away. -
Get it up to 200-500 degrees 1-2 times a week. While it is hot throw some meet on it.
