well today i decided to make some ribs, so for a test i did some babybacks and a spare untrimed.
as for results my favorite is still baby backs, but i most admit the spares were allot more moist! but texture was still best on the babybacks. also beeing untrimmed eating them were a bit of a messy situation.but non the less they were good eats, but it answered my question of witch i prefer.but will re do the test again but i will trim the spares down like thirdeye explains on his blog. and then make my final decision. plus this way gives me an excuse to make ribs next weekend!!

They look great :woohoo:

Excellent job on the ribs! You have to keep cooking more, because that grid extender is way too shiny
I trim the spares St. Louis style, so there's always something to sample while the ribs are cooking, and there is the piece from the top which you can use for beans, ABTs, etc. -
Those look absolutely fabulous Mike...what great photos. What sauce did you use??

Great looking ribs.
I agree it's hard to beat Baby Backs. I tried some extra meaty ones last time but the extra meat comes from leaving the loin on them. I still prefer the normal ones as all the meat falls off the bone, so tender you need no teeth to eat. -
lady diana's on the baby backs and on the spares it is a new locally made maple q sauce. it was pretty good it was my first time using it.
it is called rocky mountain maples -
We were thinking alike today, Mike. I was craving spares and made some almost as nice-looking as yours.
